Nominee: Innovative Management – Medium Project Drivers are moving again on one of the most congested freeways in the Bay Area thanks to the California Department of Transportation’s Sunol Grade Express Lane Project, which converted HOV lanes on a 14-mile stretch of I-680 between Milpitas and Pleasanton to high occupancy toll lanes. The project – the first high occupancy toll lane project in Northern California — maximized the efficiency of I-680 by encouraging the use of buses and carpools. |
