Nominee: Innovative Management – Small Project Thanks to cooperation and coordination between jurisdictions, the New Mexico Department of Transportation was able to solve a nagging congestion problem and build a signature entry point to the Pueblo of Acoma and the Cubero Land Grant lands. The New Mexico DOT I-40, exit 102 project rebuilt the main access to the Pueblo of Acoma and Cubero Land Grant lands and the roads that serve local rural communities and schools in this area. Context sensitive design and coordination with local stakeholders led to the use of an innovative design repurposed significant portions of the old interchange and included construction of a roundabout. |
