WINNER: Innovative Management – Large Project Based on the idea that travel should be easy, the $267 million InterLink transportation hub at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island, offers travelers connections to commuter rail, intercity bus, and rental cars. While coordinating travel was the goal, it took some effort to coordinate development and construction of the facility. First, the project included a number of public and private partners, including three lead agencies – the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration. In addition, the project was built concurrently in four sections – the Terminal End Improvements; the Skywalk; the Customer Service Operations Building; and, the Garage and Fueling Platform – while maintaining an active airport terminal, rail tracks and surrounding roadways. |
