An innovative approach to constructing a new highway bridge helped deliver this $23.3 million project – partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – under budget and well ahead of schedule. The construction of a 1,728 foot long flyover ramp connecting southbound Santa Fe Drive to eastbound C-470 project added improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians, while easing connectivity, enhancing mobility and improving safety for the nearly 80,000 vehicles. The Colorado Department of Transportation project was finished four months ahead of schedule and $664,000 under budget largely thanks to the use of precast pier caps rather than cast in place versions, which allowed for placement of 13 pier caps in three days rather than several months. |
