I-75 Rest Area Improvement Project
Pasco County, FL
Florida Department of Transportation’s $25 million I-75 Rest Area Improvement project not only expanded parking and restroom capacity at several rest areas on Florida’s I-75 for tourists and locals alike, but also made these rest areas green.
FDOT installed products with recyclable materials, locally available materials, and other green initiatives, this project was awarded a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for safer, sustainable rest areas. The project was the first in the state to use continuously reinforced concrete pavement, saving both taxpayer dollars and extending the facility’s lifespan. With improvements in safety, capacity, and sustainability, this project was completed on time and under budget.
