Indiana DOT’s $6.3 million INDOT Propane Vehicle Program saved taxpayers and cut down on harmful emissions by launching hundreds of INDOT vehicles that run on both propane and gasoline. By converting 583 small and full-size pickup trucks and vans to run on both propane and gasoline, INDOT’s Propane Vehicle Program lowers fuel costs and allows the fleet to run on cleaner alternative fuels. INDOT estimates the propane vehicle program will reduce gasoline usage by more than 580,000 gallons per year – saving taxpayers an estimated $1.1 million annually. Propane also reduces pollution, lowers maintenance costs, and is safer than gasoline. |
