Kentucky successfully upgraded the William H. Natcher Parkway to accommodate the development that sprung up after the original parkway was planned and built in 1979. Back then, there was little development in the area and almost no delays for motorists. However, in 2009, the corridor was fully developed commercially and residentially. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spent $37.7 million to extend the parkway in order to ease congestion in the area and finish the project months earlier than scheduled by combining two separate contracts into one. |
