Oklahoma Department of Transportation is saving time for industry and generating much-needed revenue to the state. And, thanks to a new $2.4 million automated permitting and routing system for oversized or overweight truck loads (known as OKiePROS), drivers are safer too. With OKiePROS, ODOT uses GPS software and real-time roadway information to process permit request and creates safe routes for loads. Many are approved and issued a permit via the internet in around 10 minutes. Automatic approvals account for 50 percent of permit applications, and the system processes over $65,000 in electronic payments and brings in nearly $1 million in revenue. |
