Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s I-70 Yukon and Madison Interchanges Improvement Project

This 93-million-dollar project included the construction of two interchanges in an effort to decrease operational problems and crashes along the existing roadway in southwestern Pennsylvania. The previous interchange ramps fell short of the required lengths for acceleration and deceleration lanes, prompting PennDOT to take action. These enhanced interchanges have effectively increased accessibility and mobility in the region. Additionally, the newly constructed roundabouts were specifically designed to handle higher traffic volumes, including the substantial flow of truck traffic on the roadway, which prepares the region for any future growth.
