South Carolina Department of Transportation— I-26 Volvo Interchange

As an incentive to bring Volvo’s first North American headquarters to South Carolina, the I-26 interchange was introduced as a transportation project that would provide commuters with an easier connection to the plant. Shortly after South Carolina was officially selected as the site for the headquarters, plans were made to begin construction on the interchange. Completed in 2019, this $46 million project by the South Carolina Department of Transportation now serves as a more modern connection for commuters and has brought economic growth and opened opportunities for development in nearby Berkeley County.
