Vermont Agency of Transportation—MyRide by GMT

The $1 million MyRide by Green Mountain Transit launched by the Vermont Agency of Transportation improved accessibility throughout Montpelier, the state capitol, specifically for populations most in need of reliable and safe transportation – such as the elderly and people with disabilities.  MyRide by GMT is an on-demand travel concept that takes multiple passengers heading in the same direction and books them into a shared vehicle. Users provide their current location and desired destination to MyRide’s call center or via the service’s mobile application, which then matches the user with a vehicle traveling that path. A MyRide vehicle then picks users up at their location and drops them off at that destination. Transit can often take a little more time, but the system’s algorithm makes each trip comparable to a taxi and more convenient than other modes of travel – making public transportation easier and more efficient for the whole community.
