Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s $800,000 trail project enhanced safety, mobility, economic growth and quality of life in the Forest County community of Crandon. The two-mile trail accommodates people walking and biking and is part of a multimodal system connecting the Wolf River State Trail and other transportation routes nearby. Its alignment avoided the need for wetland fill, and crews used sustainable materials to protect the environment and support local industry. The trail features paved portions coupled with boardwalks to provide a scenic and healthy travel option to downtown, residential and commercial areas, including the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway that hosts 40,000 visitors annually.
