New Jersey Department of Transportation – Route 3 Over the Passaic River

New Jersey Department of Transportation’s $178 million bridge replacement project increased safety and access, and improved traffic flow along Route 3 near Lyndhurst, Rutherford and Clifton. Crews replaced aging bridges, conducted utility upgrades, added capacity and improved connectivity to address 2030 growth projections. Additionally, they saved $1.4 million using innovative sewer technology and included waterfront and educational park space to enhance natural features to enrich this urban corridor’s history. A cohesive public involvement campaign kept the public informed throughout the length of the project.
