Nevada Department of Transportation’s $3 million timely reconstruction project brought back access and transportation safety along Route 342 connecting it to US 50 near Carson City and to historic Gold Hill and Virginia City. Through unprecedented partnerships with several agencies, crews reconstructed and realigned a two-mile roadway segment under budget and within 15 weeks, allowing tourists to visit this historic mining area and maintain the continuous movement of people, goods and services across the region. Project safety features include wider lanes, roadway shoulders, guard rail protection and improved drainage.
