Nevada Department of Transportation’s I‑15/Tropicana Interchange project rebuilt one of the busiest gateways to the Las Vegas Strip while keeping the city moving – even as global events placed unprecedented demand on the corridor. Originally constructed in 1964, the interchange had become a major bottleneck, struggling to serve tens of millions of annual visitors, daily commuters, and major event traffic. Limited capacity and outdated ramp configurations contributed to congestion, safety concerns, and unreliable travel times at the front door to the Strip. With destinations such as Allegiant Stadium and T‑Mobile Arena nearby, Nevada DOT faced the challenge of modernizing the interchange without disrupting traffic in a corridor that could not afford to slow down. The $386 million project expanded traffic flow, boosted safety, and provided more reliable travel times. Additionally, the interchange was delivered without crippling disruptions, allowing the community and tourism economy to continue operating throughout construction. By improving access to the Strip – one of the world’s most visited destinations – the project strengthens Southern Nevada’s economic engine, supports local businesses and major events, reduces freight delays, and positions the region for long‑term growth through reliable, modern transportation infrastructure.
