Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s US-75 at 141st Street Overpass Project significantly improved safety and mobility in Glenpool by replacing a congested signalized intersection with a modern interchange. Prior to reconstruction, US-75 and 141st Street served approximately 48,000 vehicles daily, including 12,000 vehicles on 141st Street. Rapid growth in the Glenpool area over the past two decades contributed to recurring congestion and frequent crashes, as turning movements often backed up into high-speed traffic.

The $33.23 million project replaced the at-grade intersection with an overpass bridge, ramps, frontage roads, protected turnarounds, and managed access points designed to improve traffic flow and reduce conflict points. Three median openings were also closed to further enhance safety and operational efficiency.

The improvements eliminated the only traffic signal along an 80-mile stretch of US-75, allowing traffic to flow freely on a corridor that carries interstate-level volumes through the Tulsa metropolitan area. Commercial vehicles, which account for approximately 10% of daily traffic, now benefit from fewer stops, more reliable travel times, reduced fuel consumption and emissions, and a lower risk of collisions.

By reducing congestion, shortening commute times, and improving freight movement, the project has enhanced regional mobility while providing a safer and more efficient interchange for residents, businesses, and travelers throughout the Glenpool community.
