Arizona Department of Transportation’s $34 million widening project along SR 77 between Tangerine and the Pinal County line improved safety and mobility to reduce traffic congestion for the many travelers it accommodates daily. Crews upgraded traffic signals and drainage systems and constructed two wildlife crossings with escape ramps to allow wildlife to migrate safely between the Santa Catalina and Tortolita mountain ranges. A shared-use path, shoulders for cyclists, aesthetic walls and barriers have improved connectivity and provided vitality to local communities by meeting long-term economic development demands.
