California Department of Transportation’s $856 million parkway project replaced a structurally and seismically deficient portion of Route 101 to improve safety and driving experience for the thousands of commuters and visitors who access the Golden Gate Bridge daily. As crews built the roadway, they reduced impacts to biological, cultural and natural resources located within surrounding project areas while addressing community desires. Through this investment, the Presidio Parkway remains a resilient tourist and economic gateway between the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco.
