Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s $220 million project built the new Abraham Lincoln Bridge over the Ohio River to increase mobility and access between Louisville and Southern Indiana. The project is anticipated to have an economic impact of $87 billion and support 15,000 new jobs over the next 30 years. It was completed more than four months ahead of schedule, which cleared the way for maintenance improvements needed on the adjacent Kennedy Bridge. Its completion was celebrated by over 50,000 residents who turned out to walk along the bridge and celebrate its opening.
