Louisiana Department of Transportation’s $9 million greenway project consists of a 2.6-mile bicycle and pedestrian trail and green corridor that connects communities from Armstrong Park to City Park. The project added mobility and connectivity via a multi-use corridor and linear park. Crews added a 12-foot path, recreation fields, green space, and landscaping improvements including approximately 500 shade trees, native plant meadows, bioswales and storm water retention features. The trail is lit with energy-efficient lighting and includes curb extensions, signalized crosswalks, pedestrian ramps and a stone walking path with a bicycle and pedestrian roundabout. The greenway continues to draw visitors from adjacent neighborhoods while it attracts investments that include housing and retail developments.
