Idaho Transportation Department’s US-95 Slide Repair improved safety and restored a critical corridor after a major landslide. In March 2025, heavy rains trigged a landslide in Adams County, IA, that damaged U.S. Highway 95 between the cities of Council and New Meadows. Approximately 50 feet of shoulder and northbound lane near milepost 146.5 had slid hundreds of feet down to the Weiser River below, resulting in massive disruptions to both statewide truck traffic and daily commuters. Through the $2.17 million US-95 Slide Repair, Idaho Transportation Department construction crews expedited repairs in two shifts and fully reopened the highway within one month of the incident. In that time, ITD crews safely restored a vital segment of U.S. 95, a corridor critical to both the regional and statewide economy.  Additionally, the Idaho Office of Emergency Management supported by allocating disaster assistance to small businesses through lowinterest loans following the governor’s emergency declaration.
